Water Damaged Carpet

When carpet sustains water damage, quick action is needed.  If the moisture in the carpet is not dealt with promptly, it can cause delamination, staining, permanent odor or microbial growth.  Delamination will cause the carpet to lose its ability to hold a stretch thus causing ripples in the carpet which can cause tripping. Mold growth can cause health issues for you and your family.  The professionally trained water technicians at Insight Restoration are available 24/7 to properly dry your carpet and stop further damage to your carpet and contents.

Drying Wet Carpet:

The source of the water determines if the carpet can be restored.  Typically, a clean water source can be extracted, disinfected and dried.  Wet carpet from dirty black water or sewage water source, needs to be removed and replaced. Carpet that has been wet too long may have had its backing separate from its top fibers (delamination). Delaminated carpet has been ruined and will need to be torn out. After an assessment of the carpet, a drying plan will be created.  Furniture and contents will be removed or blocked up to prevent damage.  Carpet padding is basically a sponge so it may need to be removed to accelerate the drying cycle.   The carpet can be dried from the top or floated in place.  Appling an antimicrobial will prevent mold growth and provide odor control.  Air movers and dehumidifiers are used to remove the moisture from the carpet.
